    Our work together is a non-judgmental, collaborative process in which we seek to understand what is interfering with the life you want, what factors maintain your problem and keep it going, and which tool you can use to break the cycle.  We identify underlying problematic patterns of thinking and behaviors and through insight and understanding, you will have a choice to ultimately act in a different, healthier way. The goal of treatment is to fully realize your strengths and live a happier, more fulfilling, and more rewarding life.

    I have specialized training in a wide range of issues including low mood and depression, generalized anxiety, Worry and Panic, Social anxiety, Health anxiety and Fears and Phobias.  I offer individual therapy for adults. I use mainly CBT, an evidence-based approach for the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. 

    PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR GENERALIZED ANXIETY

Panic is more intense, and is described as a sudden uncontrollable fear. Panic is also a form of anxiety, characterized by sudden outbursts that are felt intensely and are extremely disruptive.

    PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR SOCIAL ANXIETY

    PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR HEALTH ANXIETY

    Health anxiety is when you spend excessive amounts of time worrying about your health and it takes over your life in an abnormal way. Common symptoms are:

    Frequently checking for physical signs of illness

    Often asking people for reassurance that you’re not sick

    Worrying that performed medical tests may be inaccurate

    PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR FEARS AND PHOBIAS

    Many people suffer from fears and phobias, and these issues can be harmless. However, when such issues persist at an abnormal level, you might feel the need to change this. This is part of what I do.

    What are fears and phobias? Fear is to be afraid of someone or something, as it’s likely to be dangerous or harmful. Phobias, on the other hand, are extreme and possibly irrational fears or aversion to something. What sets the two apart is intensity and rationality. Fear is a normal and necessary emotion that protects us from harm, although when experienced at high frequencies and intensities can possibly be harmful. Phobias are much more intense and can cause significant dysfunction or discomfort. What the phobia is focused on can possibly be irrational.

    Fear, then, is a natural, useful emotion. Phobias are a type of anxiety disorder distinctly different from fear. With phobias, there is a dysfunction in the brain circuits that’s responsible for a normal fear response, leading to excessive fear and anxiety as a response to non-dangerous objects or situations. Common examples are phobias of spiders, seeing blood, and enclosed spaces.
